2 Samuel 22:20 He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

The first thing that you must know is that you need God’s help to get to your large place. Zerubbabel was unable to complete the building of the temple in his strength, so the Lord told him in Zechariah 4:6 that it is not by power or might, but by His spirit. It was a reminder that he needed the help of the spirit of God to finish what he started. It will be no different for you. Even though David was a great fighter, it was not his fighting skills that made him King over Israel. In 2 Samuel 22:20 he identified the source of his victory. In making reference to God he said “He brought me forth also into a large place”. He was now King, after fleeing from Saul for about 10 years, right then he acknowledged that it was God’s hand that did it. God provided food and shelter for him, protected him and sent him able men to help him fight his battles. How could he not ascribe credit to Him. He got to where he got because God helped him. Let God help you to get to your large place.

God helped David because he positioned himself to be helped by God. He stated the reason for his deliverance. He said “he delivered me, because he delighted in me”. David’s help did not come because he was more special than anyone else, but rather because he lived a life that pleased God. That is important to know, because what that means is that regardless of how long it takes, God will in like manner help you to get to a large place if you live a life that is pleasing to God. God was always inclined to move swiftly to deliver the Children of Israel when they lived in a way to please Him. Let that be your guide.

The main takeaway from the experience of David and the people of Israel is that you can get to your large place if you allow God to help you. And to enlist his help, you must live a life that pleases him. To get to your large place you do not have to depend on luck or chance, only live a life that pleases God.

Life Application: Position yourself to receive your large place by living a life daily that is pleasing to God. Keeping his laws and following his principles will get you there. 

Prayer: Lord, help me to live a life that is pleasing unto you and to rely on you completely. In Jesus’ name, amen.
