Find God in Your Situation

Daily Devotional

Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Whatever situation you find yourself in, it is possible to find God. We find God when he shows up in our situations. Jeremiah 29:13 tells us the condition that must be met for us to find God.  It says we shall find God “when we search for Him with all our heart”. What does it mean to search for God with all of our heart? Seeking God with all our heart is to do all that His word says. Hezekiah sought the Lord with all his heart by keeping his laws and commandments {2 Chronicles 31:21).

When we seek God with all our heart we can be sure that he will show up. The scripture said “and ye shall seek me and find me”. The use of the word “shall” indicates that it is a covenant promise; it will never fail from happening.

In 2 Chronicles 15, King Asa and the people of Judah sought God with all their heart by doing 3 things: a} they removed the abominable idols out of the land; b) they got back to true worship by reestablishing the altar of the Lord; and, c) they made a covenant to seek the Lord with all their hearts and soul. Because they did this 2 Chronicles 15:15 said “and he was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about.” Seeking God with all their hearts greatly reduced the battles that they had to fight.

Even if your past is wretched, God will still show up when you seek him with all your heart. God took Manasseh out of bondage, even though he was previously an evil king, and restored him to his position as King of Judah when he turned to him with all his heart.  God is not slack concerning his promises, in the same way that he showed up for those in the past who sought him with all their heart, he will do the same for you.

Life Application: Find God in your situation by establishing him as your top priority, worship him in spirit and truth and back that up with a firm commitment to seek him with all your heart.

Prayer: Lord, early will I seek you. I will seek you with all my heart and I know I will find you because you have already stated it and you can not lie. Have your way in and through me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
