There is Nothing That God Cannot Do

Daily Devotional

Job 42:2 I know that thou canst do everything, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.

Not only has God repeatedly done the impossible, every time that someone in the scriptures questioned His capabilities, they were put to shame. One such occasion was after the Israelites defeated King Benhadad and the Syrian army for the first time in 1 Kings 20. In an attempt to explain the reason for their loss, the servants of King Benhadad told him that the reason for their loss was that the Israelite’s God was a God of the hills. Accordingly, they were of the belief that if they took on the Israelites a second time in the valley they would be certain of victory.  They made the mistake of putting a limit on God and in the battle they were routed: they lost one hundred thousand of their footmen in one day. The experience of the Israelites reveals that God’s ability to deliver is not dependent on whether we are on the mountain top or going through the lowest point in life; whatever our circumstance, He is still God and being God there is nothing that He cannot do.

It behooves all of us to know for ourselves that there is nothing that God cannot do. After God revealed himself to Job towards the end of his ordeal where he lost everything, he confessed in Job 42:2 that there was nothing that God could not do. It took a revelation of who God really was for Job to get to that point. Recognize that part of the reason we limit God, from time to time, is because we are yet to have a full revelation of who He is. The moment we do, all limitations and false beliefs will disappear. It is why the scripture said in John 8:32, he shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. To know the truth is to have a full revelation of who He is; that will set you free to walk into your purpose and promise.

Anytime you feel inclined to limit God, realize that it is necessary for you to get to know him more.

Life Application: Remove whatever limits you have placed on God through a pursuit of a deep knowledge of who God is.

Prayer: Lord, remove all limits from my mind as it relates to who you are and what you can do. You are the God of the impossible and have proven that there is absolutely nothing you can’t do. In Jesus’ name, amen.
