Go After God’s Will His Way

Daily Devotional

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Although we want to see God’s will being done in our lives; what often hinders us from seeing it is that we miss God’s way. We cannot get to God’s will unless we go about it His way.

John 10:10 says “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”. Yes, it is God’s will that we experience abundant life in every area of our lives, but it is not going to happen if we keep doing it our way. What can we do to pursue God’s will His way? Jesus gives us the answer in John 14:6, when he said “I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh to the Father except through me”. Jesus is the word of God and as the word of God He is the way. So to go about God’s will His way, is to choose to be directed by His words.  The word or God is the way that we must choose to get to the will of the Father. Jesus also referred to himself as the “truth”. What that implies is that when we choose to do things God’s way, it will take us to the truth or the right path and the truth will lead us to the place where we experience life in our situations. Life, therefore, is an automatic by-product of pursuing God’s will His way.

You may miss His way because you are accustomed to doing it your way. But His ways are better. Another reason why you may miss His way is because you have not taken the time to seek His direction; that is tantamount to not knowing where you are going but still refusing to use the GPS or navigation system that is at your disposal. The most likely outcome is that you will get lost along the journey.  God wants you to have His will, but you must choose to go about it His way.

Life Application: Go after your purpose and promise God’s way by being guided completely by spoken and written words.

Prayer: Lord, guide me to your will for my life through your word. May I endeavor to seek you in order to know your will at all times. In Jesus’ name, amen.
