Transform Your World through Your Obedience

Daily Devotional

Romans 5:19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Never underestimate the power of your obedience. In the past, the obedience or disobedience of one man shaped the course of history. Romans 5:19 tells us that by the disobedience of Adam many were made sinners and by the obedience of Jesus many were made righteous. The central message of the scripture is that our decision to be obedient or not will not only affect us, it will also affect others. If Adam and Eve had given consideration to this truth then they may have overlooked their need for self-gratification in favour of obedience to the word of God.

While obedience in all circumstances is important, the primary way in which we shape our world through obedience is by carrying out divine instructions particularly as it relates to the area in which we were called. The greatest impact of Jesus’ obedience related to him going to the cross.  Similarly, it was through the obedience of Moses why the Children of Israel were led out of Egypt’s bondage. Nineveh’s repentance was delayed by Jonah’s initial refusal to do what God said. The point is that someone else’s victory, deliverance or breakthrough is tied to your obedience, do not hesitate to carry out what God says any longer.

Life Application: Transform your world through your obedience by not only being obedient to the principles and laws of God, but also as it relates to carrying out your God given purpose.

Prayer: Lord, you have declared that obedience is better than sacrifice. May I always act in obedience and fulfill your will and purpose. In Jesus’ name, amen.
