Genesis 39:3 And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

The most important thing that you can have going for you is not a lot of money or friends in high places, but it is that the Lord is with you. That was the secret to Joseph’s success in Egypt. Because God was with, nothing could stop him. Genesis 39:3 said that his master saw that the Lord was with him. What the scripture was communicating to us was that the fact that God was with Joseph was not just known to him, it was also evident to others. When God is with you, at some point in time, it will become noticeable to others. The evidence that God was with Joseph was evident based on the impact that he had on his environment. The scripture said that the Lord “made all that he did to prosper in his hand”. It was not just some things that flourished, everything he touched prospered because God was with him.

Not because things are not going the way you want means that God is not with you. In Judges 6 Gideon could not understand how the angel could say that the Lord was with him yet they were struggling. The Lord’s response to him was “go in thy might, have not I sent thee?” What God was telling him to do was to step out into purpose. Their struggles were not because God was not with them, but because he had not yet stepped out into his purpose.  Gideon was the one holding himself back. Don’t hold yourself back, make sure that God is with you and use that to step out into your purpose.

Life Application: Make sure that the Lord is with you by adhering to the laws and principles of God and staying close to him.

Prayer: Lord, if you are not with me I will fail in all my endeavors. So, draw me close to you Lord and never let me go. In Jesus’ name, amen.
