Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Rather than accept the unwanted circumstances that you face, change them by activating the power that God has already given to you. Esther and the Jews in Shushan activated the power and got the result that they wanted.  In Esther 3, a decree was signed by king Ahasuerus that all the Jews in the province of Shushan should be killed on the 13th day of the 12th month.  It was a scheme that was orchestrated by the wicked Haman.

When Esther learnt of the matter through Mordecai, she got radical and called all the Jews in the province to three (3) days of prayer and fasting without food or drink. It was her intent to go to the King after the three days of fasting had ended. The purpose of the time of fasting and prayer was to activate the power: It is notable that Esther never engaged the King until she first activated the power given to her through God. The strategy worked well as the story ended with a decree being overturned and all the enemies of the Jews in the province destroyed.  Great things can happen when we activate the power of God.

Prayer and fasting are not the only ways that we can activate the power. We can also activate the power by following God’s instruction and obeying His written words. The three (3) Hebrew boys automatically activated the power when they refused to disobey the first commandment and bow down to the golden image and they suffered no harm while they were in the fire. Moses activated the power at the Red Sea by following God’s instruction to let the Children of Israel move forward and stretching forth the rod; the result was that the Red Sea was parted. The ten lepers also activated the power and got their healing when they followed the instruction of Jesus to go show themselves to the priest. While they were on their way, they were all healed. The secret to your victory is activating the power of God. Luke 10:19 is a reminder that God has already given us the power, all that is now needed is for us to activate it.  When it is activated, it does not matter what form the enemy comes in, he will be defeated.

Life Application: Activate the power through prayer, fasting, following God’s instructions and obeying His word.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the power that we have through you. We walk in the authority that you have given us to tread upon serpents and to declare things and watch them happen. In Jesus’ name, amen.
