Luke 5:4-6 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

Miracles will happen if you believe. Observe that all the miracles that were recorded in scripture was the result of belief; it will be no different in your life. There were three (3) ways in which the recipient of miracles showed that they truly believed. The first is that they moved on the word of God. In Luke 5:4-6 Peter had toiled all night and caught nothing, but when Jesus said to him “launch into the deep and let down your net”. Peter responded to say, “at thy word I will let down the net” and when he did, they caught so many fish that their net broke; he had to call other fishermen to come and help him. How did Peter get his miracle? He moved on the word of God without hesitation.

The second way in which belief was shown by those who received their miracle was by acting as if the outcome they wanted had already happened. The 10 lepers did this in Luke 17. When they saw Jesus, they called to him and said to them, “go show thyself to the priest”. Based on the law, the only time that a leper is supposed to show himself to the priests is when he has already been cleansed. So, for them moving on the word of Jesus, they acted as if they were already cleansed, and the Bible said that as they went on their way they were cleansed. Believing and acting as if it is already done, brought them their miracle.

Another trait shown by those who believed for their miracle, is refusing to give up even when the conditions become unfavorable. Blind Bartimaeus was an example of that in Mark 10:46-52; although he was buffeted by the negativity of those around him telling him to keep quiet, he kept believing for his miracle and cried out the name of Jesus even louder. His unfavourable situation did not push him to give up, it propelled him to be more aggressive. What is the miracle that you want to see, do not just say that you believe, show it.

Life Application: Show that you believe by moving on the word of Jesus, act as if it is already done and refuse to give up even when the circumstances become unfavourable.

Prayer: Lord, I trust you wholeheartedly and I will show this by stepping out on your word and believing what you say in your word. Thank you for the miracle I’m expecting. In Jesus’ name, amen.
