Jesus Makes the Difference

Daily Devotional

Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

Recognize that you are who you are today because Jesus made the difference. Think about some of the things that you struggled with – lying, stealing, sexual immorality, drug addiction, alcoholism and incest. You are different now only because Jesus made a difference. Look also at the health problems, financial difficulties and family issues you overcame, again because Jesus makes a difference. Thank God for the difference He has made in your life.

After Peter and John made the lame man walk, the religious leaders brought them in for questioning. They wanted to know by what power they were able to work that miracle. Peter responded to them by letting them know that it was done by the name of Jesus whom they had crucified. He was letting them know that Jesus is the one who made the difference. When Peter was through speaking, the religious leaders were astonished that these men who had no special training or education were able to speak with great boldness and perform miracles. What was the reason for this? The only thing that they could attribute to them being able to operate in this way is that “they had been with Jesus”. By their own admission they were effectively saying the same thing that Peter had said that Jesus had made the difference, also concluding that it is Jesus that made the difference. It is good when we can recognize that Jesus has made the difference in our lives, but even better when others can look at how we operate and draw the same conclusion.

Life Application: Thank God for the transformation He has brought to your life and live your life in such a way to be a true representation of Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for making such a difference in my life. You are indeed a life changer and I am who I am because of your grace and mercy. Thank you for changing me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
