Love that Transcends Borders

Daily Devotional

Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord

Has anyone ever told you that they love you, but there are certain things that they would never do for you? I have had that experience. What the person was suggesting, at the time, was that there is a limit to the extent to which they would be willing to express their love for me. Contrast that to what the word of God says in Romans 8:38-39, that nothing shall separate us from the love of God.  What God wants us to know is that there is no boundary to His love. Although it is wrong, involvement with principalities and powers through witchcraft working will not stop God from pursuing us.

My fear of height would stop me from going for someone who is too high, but there is no height that is too high for God to reach for us. The evidence that all this is true is in the fact that He paid the greatest price that anyone could pay, that of dying on the cross for us.

Given the many times that the Israelites messed up, one would have thought that they would have been beyond God’s love. To demonstrate that this was not the case, God told Hosea to go marry a daughter of the whoredoms in Hosea 1:2. It was to signify how low God was willing to go to  reach Israel even after they had prostituted themselves by going after idols.  God’s love for us today is no different, it does not matter how we may have messed up in the past or the current predicament that we may be in, because He loves us, it will not stop God from continually reaching for us.

Life Application: Respond to God’s love that extends beyond borders by loving Him more than anything else, evidenced by keeping His commandments.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for an all consuming, all encompassing love that knows no boundaries. Thank you for demonstrating your love for me everyday. May I love you more each day by keeping your commandments. In Jesus’ name, amen.
