John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Don’t just repeat John 14:6, make Jesus the way, the truth and the life in your own life. What is meant by Jesus being the way, the truth and the life? And how can we make this personal in our own lives? As “The way”, Jesus is the path to the Father. Hence he said, “no man cometh to the Father but by me”. Getting to the Father begins with acknowledging and believing in Jesus and making His ways our ways. Prior to meeting Jesus, Saul, who was renamed Paul, persecuted the early church. It was about His way, but when he came into contact with Jesus on Damascus Road, he made Jesus his way when he said “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?” From that response it is clear that He believed in Jesus and was about to make the Lord’s mission his agenda. Make Jesus the way in your life by carrying out His agenda.
Jesus is the truth because He is the revealed word of God. John 1:1 tells us that in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. As you would already know the scripture was talking about Jesus. We can make Him the truth of our lives by living by both the written and the spoken words, which represent His instructions. After His conversion Paul did not only live by the scriptures, but he also took heed to God’s instructions. One example of that was in Acts 20:22, Paul being instructed by the Spirit to go to Jerusalem. He willingly went, even though he knew that his life was in Jeopardy.
As “The Life”, Jesus gives not only eternal life but also brings life to dead situations. When God made Adam, it is only after the breath of God entered his nostrils that he became alive. Genesis 2:7 said, and God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. We can make Him our life by allowing His breath to continually flow through our situations. To make this our reality, we must abide in His presence by spending quality time in prayer and entertaining His presence through worship.
Life Application: Make the way, the truth and the life personal to you by believing in Jesus Christ, living by His written and spoken words and let His breath continually flow through our circumstances.
Prayer: Lord, you are not only the way truth and life, but you are my way, my truth and my life. Lord, May I adhere to your every word and live a life that pleases you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
