Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
What is your vision for your life? If you don’t yet have one, it is time to create one. Establishing a vision is very important because it determines the future that you will create. Take note that the vision that God gave Joseph of his life was that of being a ruler and that was what he became. Similarly, the vision that David got was that of being the next king of Israel and that became his reality. We will manifest the future that we choose to see.
Another reason it is important to create a vision is because without one the most likely result is failure and defeat. In echoing that sentiment, the scripture said that “where there is no vision, the people perish”. The reason the likelihood of failure is high without a vision is because without one there is nothing that we are aiming for. Consequently, we will go around in circles with the ultimate result being stagnation and a failure to attain anything meaningful.
While having a vision is crucial; that alone is not sufficient to take you to your destination. Getting there will require you to walk into the vision. Proverbs 29:18 communicated this truth when it said, “but he that keepeth the law happy is he”. The use of the word “but” was simply to highlight that it will take more than establishing a vision to make it happen; in addition, we must follow through by walking into the vision. To walk into the vision, we must consistently keep God’s laws and principles; that is why the scripture says “he that keepeth law, happy is he”. When God gave Abraham a vision for his life in Genesis 12, he walked into it by consistently following His laws and principles.
Life Application: Walk into the vision that God has given you concerning your life, write it down and make it happen through the application of his laws and principles.
Prayer: Father, thank you for what you have established for my life from before the beginning of time. May I not only see the vision, but walk into it as well. In Jesus’ name, amen.
