Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Your circumstances will not change until you learn honour. The reason is that you can only get a promotion by someone who is set over you; dishonouring that person will cut off your flow of favour. Proverbs 9:10 says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Wisdom begins when you learn honour, more specifically honouring the lord.
Here are 4 principles of honour that you must adapt.
1. You have not mastered honour until you master which voice (s) you must honour first. In any day there will be many things competing for your focus. Honour God’s voice first and then the person set over you.
2. Never be in the presence of someone great and not seize the opportunity to honour greatness.
3. Your motive for honour should never be for promotion or acknowledgement but simply to serve.
4. Not because someone that is great has flaws means that he/she is not worthy of honour. David honoured Saul in spite of his flaws.
Life Application: Daily honour God’s instructions and principles first then the king in your environment and/or field of work.
Prayer: Dear Lord, cause me to honour you all the days of my life. Also, let me honour those you have placed above me, not because I want anything in return, but because it is the right thing to do. Kill the pride in me that would cause me not honour those who are set above me. In Jesus name, amen.
