10 Things That You Must Do Differently in 2022 – Part 3

Daily Devotional

Part 2 outlined the approach to take to avoid missing great opportunities in 2022. Exploring all possible options to identify creative solutions to include partnering with people who have the resources, knowledge and skills that you lack, should be the cornerstone of your strategy.

# 3: Increase Your Knowledge in the Area You Want to See Change

Mark 5:27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

“Change is proportional to knowledge”, Dr. Mike Murdock. With no knowledge you will fail to create the change you want to see, that is part of the reason Hosea 4:6 says “my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” Failure is very often the result of lack of knowledge, wisdom and understanding. To avoid many of the mistakes that were made in 2022, the only prudent approach is to invest time in significantly increasing your knowledge in the area where you want to see change.

There are two main reasons why increasing your knowledge is critical. First, lack of knowledge will blind your eyes to opportunities. Opportunities present themselves every day, but without knowledge you will never see them as opportunities. The second reason is that your life is an accumulation of your decisions and those decisions, good or bad, are driven by your beliefs and your beliefs are fueled by your knowledge at any given time. The point is that if you hang on to old, but faulty beliefs, you will keep making bad decisions in 2021. It is only by investing in new knowledge that you can change the way you think and behave. Consider the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:27, for 12 years she pursued doctors and ended up spending all that she had. Why did she do this? Doctors were the only option she had knowledge of and consequently, that was all she could believe. When she heard about Jesus, her knowledge grew and her belief changed. Then she believed that her healing would come by her simply touching the hem of his garment. For 12 years she held on to an old faulty belief until she was exposed to new knowledge.

Acquiring a mentor who has been successful in an area you want to see change is a shortcut to closing the knowledge gap in your field of pursuit. If that is not possible immediately, read or listen to resources that they have put out. The late Jim Rohn, who was broke at the age of 25 and became a millionaire at 31, did so by first acquiring a mentor John Earl Shoaff, who directed him to some books that he should read to increase his knowledge which ultimately led him to be more successful.

Life Application: Acquire a mentor and expend time to learn biblical principles and listen to resources created by those who have done what you are looking to do.

Prayer: Lord, increase my knowledge and help me to expand beyond my current capabilities. In Jesus name, amen.
