Bible Verse:
Luke 5:19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.
Obstacles do not mean that you should stop; it is an invitation to find another way. The four (4) men who carried their paralyzed friend to be healed by Jesus, had to find another way in Luke 5:19. The crowd that came to the meeting place where Jesus was, hindered them from taking their friend before Jesus for him to be healed. They were faced with 2 options: give up, or find another way. They came with the expectation that their friend would be healed and not being willing to give up on that belief, they chose to find another way. The other way was unconventional: they removed part of the roof at the place where Jesus was teaching, even though it did not belong to them. Jesus, being pleased with their faith, told the man to take up his bed and walk and he was healed immediately.
If they had not looked for another way the man could have lived the rest of his life in the same state, but because they looked for another way, the man left there healed. It takes faith to find another way, if they had responded in fear, they would have concluded that there is no way it would happen. Because they kept the faith, they saw possibilities where there was none. The woman with the issue of blood did the same thing. She too saw possibilities where there was none and pushed through the crowd to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment and she was made whole. Similarly, Zacheus would not allow the large crowd to deny him from seeing Jesus and so he found another way – he ran ahead and climbed up into a Sycamore tree and that day salvation came to his house. No matter how impossible the dream or promise from God is, there is a way, keep looking for it.
Life Application:
Make a list of all possible options by consulting with the wisest in your field and then decide which path is best based on the resources you have at your disposal.
Prayer:
Lord, give me wisdom to seek alternatives in situations where it seems like there is no other way. Open my mind to the possibilities that exist. In Jesus name, amen.
