3 Biblical Steps to Go “From Good to Great”

Mathew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye. shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

No man or woman was born great. What then accounts for one person becoming great and another staying good or average? Their habits. Great men form great habits that eventually take them to greatness.

Mathew 7:7 gives 3 steps to become great.  The first step is to ask God for what you want to become. In outlining the first step, the scripture says ask and ye shall receive. It might seem unimportant to ask God, but contrary to that view, when you ask God according to His will he gives you the authority or power to receive. You very often will not see the physical manifestation at the same time, but know that he has empowered you to receive anything that you ask according to his will. The benefit of being empowered to possess is that the only person who can stop you is you.

The second step is to seek and find. When the scripture says seek and ye shall find, what is it telling us to seek? It is talking about wisdom. Before you can become great you need wisdom and the only way to get it is to seek after it. How do you seek wisdom? There are several ways two of which are noted below:

1.       Daily position yourself in His presence through prayer and worship so that you can hear His divine instruction..

2.       Gathering information by research and reading books to learn the habits that were formed by those who have done what you are looking to do. This could also be through a mentor who you ask questions.

The final step to greatness is to use the key to open the door. The scripture puts it this way: “knock and the door shall be opened”. Once you have sought and found wisdom (in step 2), you have found the master keys to open the door to your greatness, use them because that is how you knock. Use the keys from the wisdom that you have garnered to replace your old habits with great habits.  

It is God’s desire for you to become great and maximize your potential; hence he has outlined 3 simple steps in the scripture. Make the decision to become great by following the principles He has provided.

Life Application: The 3 steps that you must take to attain greatness: ask God for what you want; seek wisdom and knock by employing great habits that you would have become aware of from seeking wisdom.

Prayer: Lord, you have outlined so many principles and directions that will propel us to greatness and enable us to operate at our best. I pray that we will implement them and therefore walk in your plan for us. In Jesus name, amen.
